Kings Heath Business Excellence Awards - They're Back!

The Kings Heath Business Excellence Awards are back for their second year and we need your help to recognise and reward the best businesses (last year's winners are pictured above).

It’s never been more important to support our local retailers, restaurants and other businesses, and the Business Excellence Awards are a wonderful way to show our appreciation for good customer service and experience.

The winners of each category will receive an award for their hard work – and by nominating your favourite businesses, you can pick up a prize too! Anyone who votes online is in with a chance to win an iPod nano – remember to fill in your name, email address, phone number and the first part of your post code.

Voting is now closed. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Thursday 26th January.

Come and have a go! It's all for free!

Whether you are a semi-pro, or never tried before in your life, now is your chance to come and have a quick play at the table in Kings Heath!

PING! is a sport related project initiatied by Sport England. Meera Sodha, Ping! Project Manager says “Putting a ping pong table on the street gives people a chance to connect with other people and the city around them - suddenly everyone is talking, playing, smiling and having fun – it generates an enormous sense of well being. Last year's event in London saw over 50,000 people play ping-pong and we are hoping that the people of Birmingham will enjoy it just as much”

From 8th July for 4 weeks, there will be a table available at the front of the Baptist Church. Bats and balls are provided, and we ask that you come and have a go! It's all for free! Just stop by!

We are also setting up a few tournaments in this time, and so if you want to put your name down to take part , just drop us an email.

New public square for Kings Heath

The construction of a new public square at the heart of Kings Heath is about to start. Located at the junction of Vicarage Rd and the High Street, the project has been supported by Kings Heath Centre Partnership from its inception. The Partnership, using BID money, helped pay for the initial landscape design activity and more recently has agreed to pay nearly £20,000 towards street furniture and plants including benches and bulbs. The major funders for construction are Birmingham City Council and Groundwork UK’s Community Spaces programme. The work will be carried out in 3 phases over a period of 6 months.
